Connecting to social media is easy. Get a username and password, and you're good to go on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or the social media platform of your choice. Connecting with social media is hard. For many, it's scary. It's uncharted territory. But it's the "talk of the town", and isn't something that can be ignored. Social media activities facilitate social interactions and provide a platform to improve customer relationships. Jumping in is easy, but knowing why is the key.

When blogs first burst onto the scene, I thought they were an interesting phenomenon. As blogs have matured and become prolific, I've often thought to myself: Who has time to be writing them? It's got to be college kids drinking Red Bull and blogging in the middle of the night, right? Um, wrong.

The Promise of Packaging

May 2002: While visiting Chile, a traveling companion recommends that I purchase 'mote con huesillo" from a local street vendor.  The beverage, served in a clear plastic cup, looks like spoiled fruit and oatmeal drowning in dirty water.  Yet the taste is remarkable, like liquid peach cobbler.

March 2008: Waiting for a flight at the Denver airport, I spot a unique beverage called "Mix 1."  I'm drawn in by the square bottle, the modern colors, typography, and a genuine message of pure protein and antioxidants (from a doctor, no less).  Yet the taste is appallingly similar to sour yogurt.
