Oliver Russell Hits the Slopes at Sundance

Frozen River -- a film about a desperate trailer mom and a Mohawk Indian girl who team up to smuggle illegal immigrants into the United States from Canada -- has won the 2008 Sundance Film Festival's grand jury prize for drama.
Boise producer Heather Rae invited Oliver Russell to create a visual identity for the film. Designer Kelly Conrad and art director Toby Robin created a haunting poster that echoes the desperation of the movie and its characters.
"I wanted to show an environment where no one would willingly want to be. These women were fighting frigid temperatures, the danger of crossing a river that is miles and miles wide, and the fear of getting caught smuggling immigrants. I wanted the viewer to know just how desperate these women were," said designer Kelly Conrad.
Frozen River was acquired by Sony Pictures Classics at the festival. For more information about the film, visit http://www.frozenriverthemovie.com.
