Squirrel Population Management
Our ferocious guard dog Roux came to us as a pup from a farm out in the country near the orchards of Fruitland. She’s a standard poodle, but there ain’t much standard about her. She is expert at sniffing out yogurt containers in trash cans, cowering printing sales reps caught sneaking in the back entrance, and “crocodiling” errant ping pong balls. Named for the brownish apricot of her puppy coat, she’s now pretty much gone white and is Roux in name only.
What is one thing you can’t live without?
What is one fact about you that people find surprising?
I am named after a roux, as in the butter/flour thickener chefs use in sauces and soups. I used to be the color of roux.
What’s worth fighting for?
Animal rights. The appropriate use of fur. Care for the blind. Russ’s sanity. Take your pick.
What would you eat for your final meal?
Definitely steak. Or pretty much anything from the dinner table.
Tell us about your favorite cause.
The Humane Society. PETA. Or maybe PAWS.
What’s the most unusual thing you’ve eaten?
Most of the stuff I eat out of Dan’s trash is fairly unusual.
Change can be hard. How do you make it easier?
A nice belly rub helps. Or chasing squirrels. Sleeping all day doesn’t hurt, either.
List 3 of your favorite books.
The Call of the Wild, White Fang, and Marley & Me.
