Client Focus: Smooth Operator
As senior producer, Shawna's job is to work with the client, orchestrate a network of resources, and deliver the project on time and on budget. She guides Fortune 50 clients such as Hewlett-Packard at the same time she’s helping a scrappy startup like MealTicket. Positive, professional, and a bona-fide people person, Shawna knows how to earn clients’ trust—not just because of who she is, but also because she flat-out gets it done.
What was the first concert you ever attended?
The internet is a judgement-free zone, right? Embarrassingly enough, the first concert I chose on my own accord was O Town (the reality TV boy band known for hits like ‘Liquid Dreams’ and ‘All or Nothing’). They were playing at the Oregon State Fair. I was in high school and really should have had better taste by then.
What would you eat for your final meal?
Fried chicken. It’s finger-lickin’ good.
What do you like about working at Oliver Russell?
I enjoy working to support organizations and causes that are making a difference in our world, working for an employer who cares about me as a person, and being surrounded by people who make the workday enjoyable.
What did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a marine mammologist—which is what happens when you grow up on the Oregon Coast and work at the aquarium. I only had to witness one whale autopsy to realize I needed a plan B. Working at Oliver Russell allows a person to (generally) avoid dead animals.
Favorite breakfast food?
I think any of my coworkers can answer this question…I am a creature of habit. I have two packets of instant oatmeal for breakfast. Every. Single. Morning.
Change can be hard. How do you make it easier?
I like being comfortable as much as the next person—but sometimes you need a kick in the pants to keep progressing. I try to look at change as a necessary evil that (when embraced) can make great, unexpected things happen in your life.
